The Applied Mechanics Department at GP Palanpur, established in 1984, teaches engineering mechanics, strength of materials, concrete technology and soil mechanics across the institute's diploma programmes. It runs no programme of its own; its laboratories and teaching support the Diploma in Civil Engineering in particular.

The Civil Engineering Department at GP Palanpur, established in 1984, is one of the college's pioneering technical streams, training students in structural design, surveying and construction technology. It runs the Diploma in Civil Engineering and works alongside the Applied Mechanics Department, which teaches the mechanics and materials subjects the programme depends on.

The Electrical Department, established in 1984, is a cornerstone of technical education at GP Palanpur. With 10 experienced faculty members, the department offers the Diploma in Electrical Engineering program. The department focuses on power systems, electrical machines, renewable energy, and control systems, preparing students for diverse careers in the electrical sector.

The Electronics & Communication Department, established in 1994, offers two diploma programs: Electronics & Communication Engineering and Information & Communication Technology. With 9 dedicated faculty members, the department focuses on emerging technologies including IoT, Embedded Systems, VLSI, and networking. The department has a dedicated website showcasing its activities and achievements.

The Instrumentation & Control Department was established in 1993 and, for over two decades, ran the Diploma in Instrumentation & Control Engineering. Admissions to that programme were discontinued from 2020, though several of its faculty continue to serve at GPP. When ACPDC introduced a new Diploma in Information Technology program in 2023, the Electronics & Communication Department initially managed it with its own faculty and labs for about 1.5 years; since then, the Instrumentation & Control Department's remaining faculty have taken over day-to-day administration of the IT program, hiring visiting faculty as needed — as the department currently has no active diploma programme of its own.

The Mechanical Department, established in 1988, is the largest department at GP Palanpur with 23 faculty members. Offering the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, the department provides comprehensive education in manufacturing, thermal engineering, and industrial production. The department boasts well-equipped laboratories and strong industry connections.

The Science & Humanities Department is a foundational department that provides essential education across all diploma programs at GP Palanpur. While it doesn't offer any specific diploma program, the department teaches fundamental subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and Communication Skills to students of all engineering disciplines. The department plays a crucial role in building the scientific and communication foundation necessary for engineering education.

A department-wide assembly introducing students to the Spectrum newsletter, followed by a certificate distribution ceremony honoring EC/ICT semester toppers and appreciation-award faculty whose Certificates of Excellence/Appreciation, earned across several past academic terms, had not yet been formally handed over. Each topper's ceremony photo has been attached to their achievement entry in the corresponding academic year's newsletter.

Faculty and staff took a collective oath to keep themselves, their families and communities free of substance abuse, with participants registering on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan portal as 'Nasha Mukti Mitr' and receiving a certificate of recognition.
