🏢 Department Overview

Electronics & Communication Engineering - Government Polytechnic, Palanpur

Electronics & Communication Engineering

Government Polytechnic, Palanpur

The Electronics & Communication Engineering Department at Government Polytechnic Palanpur offers two diploma programs: Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Information & Communication Technology (ICT). Our department is led by a Head of Department and supported by 7 qualified faculty members, including 2 Ph.D. holders, 1 pursuing doctoral studies, 3 with M.E./M.Tech degrees, and 1 with B.E. degree, along with lab and support staff. The department maintains a strong average student-faculty ratio (approximately 18:1 across the last three assessment years) and 100% faculty retention. This year's activities opened with an Orientation Programme for new admits and spanned a national-level AI summit, a semiconductor manufacturing expert lecture, a new industry-supported lab, three industrial visits, an alumni meet reconnecting EC/ICT graduates, and continued SSIP-driven student innovation, alongside sustained faculty development in emerging areas from quantum computing to space-sector entrepreneurship. Per TPO and NBA Criteria-4 records, our 2024-25 pass-out batch (department average CGPA 7.94) has already produced two placements (Micron Semiconductor Technology India and Acrologic Automation) and five admissions to higher studies at institutions including Dharmsinh Desai University, L.D. College of Engineering, VGEC Chandkheda, and GEC Patan.

Head of Department's Message

Message from the HOD

Shri Sunilkumar J. Chauhan

Head of Department - Electronics & Communication Engineering

Dear EC Community, The academic year 2025-26 opened in July with our Orientation Programme welcoming a new batch of EC and ICT students, and has been, ever since, a year of reconnecting and looking ahead at the same time. In April, we welcomed back our graduates at Alumni Meet 2026, a genuinely energising day of networking, faculty interaction, and lab showcases that reminded all of us why this department's real strength is the people who have passed through it. On the technical front, our exposure visit to ISRO Ahmedabad, the India AI Impact Summit 2026, an expert lecture on Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology by Dr. Vijay K. Patel in March, and the inauguration of our industry-supported lab in June gave our students a clear view of where electronics manufacturing and AI are headed nationally. Three fresh industrial visits, to the Community Radio Station and to NETRAM's Command and Control Centre in Palanpur, along with an IoT workshop by our own alumnus-entrepreneur Mr. Rishabh Prajapati, kept that exposure hands-on throughout the year. Our faculty matched that ambition with their own development: FDPs spanning quantum computing, semiconductor innovation, and entrepreneurship for the space sector. Academically, our semester toppers this year, including Jangeed Jay Rameshbhai and Maknojiya Arman Imranbhai (both 9.33 SPI), continue a strong tradition of consistent performance across both our EC and ICT programs. I am also glad to report, per our TPO and NBA Criteria-4 records, that our 2024-25 pass-out batch has already produced concrete outcomes: Panchal Shubh Kiranbhai (Micron Semiconductor Technology India) and Prajapati Harshad Sureshbhai (Acrologic Automation Pvt. Ltd.) placed, and five graduates, Patel Akshar Dilipkumar and four of our ICT students, admitted to institutions including Dharmsinh Desai University, L.D. College of Engineering, VGEC Chandkheda, and GEC Patan for higher studies. Two new SSIP-sanctioned student projects, Mali Paresh's Core XY 3D Printer and Dave Falguni's Smart Chair Positioning System, joined our growing list of innovation work, alongside NPNI4 (the fourth edition of our "New Palanpur for New India" project exhibition), a Scratch coding competition, and final-year project presentations. We also stayed grounded in student welfare this year, with a Thalassemia screening camp, a Nashamukti Abhiyan de-addiction awareness drive, and a cyber-crime awareness session, alongside Women's Day observance and a warm farewell to our sixth-semester students as they head into their final placements. I remain proud of this department's ability to hold both technical rigor and genuine community together, and I look forward to building further on this year's momentum.
